For those of you who do not know what Web 2.0 is – it is the new or upgraded version of the Internet where changing (once again) how people and businesses interact with each other. For instance, sites such as MySpace, Flickr, ThinkFree.com, and YouTube are all part of the many sites out there.
Speaking of YouTube, two business colleagues, Dale Canning of Premier Technical and a buddy of his, Ben Jones, of ImageBrew Designs teamed up and took advantage of a similar site called Current TV. Instead of posting amateur short clips or videos such as on YouTube, Current TV allows viewers to vote for these videos (give a green light), which then can later be viewed on DirectTV if they make the cut. Check out Dale’s and Ben’s video: The Adirondack Guideboat.
I think that by calling the whole "open source" and "collaboration" Web 2.0 is confusing. The first time I heard the phrase I thought that I'd have to buy new hardware, new browsers, etc... don't get me wrong, i love where/what has happened (RSS, wiki, etc), but i think the phrase is getting too much buzz for just improving features that already existed, but begun to move mainstream.
Also, I want to direct your attention to this video, its a few minutes long, but amazing:
